Moving houses

We all know the problems of trying to move out as first time buyers in England.  We live with our parents til we are in our mid to late twenties as we can't afford bugger all else.  Those who go to uni will be neck deep in debt already and will be wondering whether to order their meal for their 32nd birthday now for their mums to prepare the way things are going.
So due to 'ongoing problems' with my dear mother I have been living with my dearest and his parents for the past 3 weeks or so, since Glors' wedding.  Not the best of solutions but it is the same thing most of our paren'ts generation had to do as well.  We saw a perfect flat for us a couple of weeks back but it was nowhere near where I was working and TFL would charge a fair whack more for me to use London Bridge.  So.  We had to let our little dream go.  We are still looking at places to rent for now, until I know where my prospects of a traineeship lie.  When I know that we can buy a place and finally settle down happily.  Til then we will continue to live together with his groovy parents until my future is more certain.  I get on very well with his parents which is definately a nice change to the way things were.

So wish us luck to find somewhere to call our own.  And dont worry guys, we will hold a house/flat warming

I hear the probs a lot of people have with mortgages.  Inability to pay the interest hikes.  I can understand and wish you the best, but do have one strong view on it: we all knew the abnormal interest rates would not last, so to mortgage almost beyond your means before was not a smart move.  I personally believe that yep it is a lot of bollox to take from living with your parents but your purchasing that house was not life and death, for those whose alternative is living on the streets I can completely understand.  It is not wholly due to the stupid inflation of house prices that has caused the interest rates to rise but the superficial fashion must haves people believe to be neccessities; having flash cars, clothing fashions, handbag dogs and stupid trends with i-pods etc.
Righty, so that's my view on things.  So I leave on a piece of advice: the interest rates are going to continue going up everyone.  Trust me. Find a solution for yourself now while you know this.

Decision Time on the Job Front

Well I decided I had had enough of my job today after having talks on Mon and Tues.  So I handed my notice and left today, having trained another newbie on my files and on updates.  So the clients still have a case worker and can have the exact same level of work (hopefully same or better) from someone else.  I have an interview for a Paralegal with a view to TC on the 19th so lets see how we get on there.  If we mutually like each other then I hope I will get teh job and be happy there.

So here's to hoping for the best.

I hope everyone is happy and everything is going well.  Lucky those of you about to pop on hol- you know who you are, and those of you who are on hol- Rich you lucky git LOL.  Also a short prayer for J who is having problems; I wish you all the best.

Take care everyone,
Love

Welcome to the smoke free zone where you can see people in a club now

Yes, it is today, and today is the day.  No smoking in all enclosed spaces.  The question is now not where can I go that I wont have to put up with smoke in my eyes and face, it is now, where can  you now legally have a smoke?  Personally speaking that is a good thing.  When I used to go clubbing the smoke really irritated my eyes so much so that they watered and looked bloodshit at the end of the night and next morning.  Nice.  Not a good look.
So now should I have the money to choose to go clubbing I can be happy in the knowledge that my eyes wont look like some horror movie.  I'm sure my partner would love to wake up and see that!
On the relationship front, Troy and I are fine, friends look to be good but family is not so.  My mother has pushed me one step too far and so as of the last 2 weeks I have moved in with Troy and his parents.  So yeah, I have moved out but it is notr just Troy and I just yet.  Also my bro still hasn't reached puberty (he's 27 in Sept) so I can't stand being in the same room as him due to his selfish and ignorant personality.
On the money front, nothing has changed, no income and always bills to pay and I have to declare my non student status the mo I get my results and I wont be able to pay my overdraft off when my job isn't paying me.  So that is a big looming problem.
On the job front I am coming up to my 3rd week in my 6 week work experience and I have had no training.  I am a caseworker and I am primarily in criminal covering a trainee's files but I have my own commercial client and have done immigration work as well.  So the experience has been good but the standard of work I produce could be so much better if I were to be given training on how the company operates eg. file opening and closing, specific programs and company policies.  However it is a teamwork atmosphere and everyone gives it their all and if you ask for help they will gladly help you.  It is early days but if I were offered a Trainee/Paralegal position elsewhere where training was provided then I would seriously consider it.
Right now it is back to updating my oyster card and buying some lunch for the next weeks work.
I hope you are all well, see you around
