What's going on here anyways?

Alright one and all?  Good!
Getting a bit nippy now isn't it?  I can confirm that since my last blog we've started using the heating now, bugger being cold lol!
So what's been happening these last few weeks?  A few notable things I'd say;  Hamilton scrapes a win for the championship, interesting how he got that, but say no more as the chap deserves it after what I've been told that other drivers have been saying ('I'll do anything possibe to ensure Hamilton doesn't win'....).  So nice one young man!
The other most notable thing which happened the day after my birthday; Obama won the US election and became the first young and first black president. Out of the two if you look at the majority of opinions, the better and more likable candidate won.  The one not resorting to tactics such as blow the other man's policy's down rather than promoting your own policy's.  My condolances for his family as his grandmother passed away recently, but not before he had the chance to see her.  A similar occurance happened to me on that score, so I can say that it must have meant something to see her that once more before they go.

The last, not most notable thing for the world was my birthday on the 4th November.  As I said, not important to the world, and due to work being demanding, I almost forgot myself until my mum mentioned that it was my birthday 'sometime soon' and 'which day was it' lol!  I've had the last week off work to relax from a frustrating sudden workload and had a relaxing week off.  It is indeed typical that the minute you take any time off you fall ill, but in my case a cold is the least of our worries!  But still not the best of timing!  Saying that, any time off work whether on death's doorstep or not, is not acceptable, so I grudgingly say at least I didn't have to work through my cold Smile.  As to the q how old am I, my answer would be; the year the age loading comes off your car/motorbike insurance.  So how old does that make me?  I'll leave that to you Wink

So that brings us pretty much up to date in the scheme of things, anything I've missed, then obviously it wasn't that important now was it? lol I'm sure you each have your opinions on the issues I've raised so if you wanted to put a penny for your thoughts then by all means, type away....

We're engaged!!

How happy are we?- that is the question!
On Saturday troy and I went to the Jewellers and bought the ring together, when we went home he then went down on both knees and proposed, how very sweet of him!
We have been talking about getting married for a few months now and so this was a beautiful moment to have.  My parents have bought us huge flowers which appear to be taking over our living room!
It has only taken us over eight and a half years of knowing each other, over half that being together to finally get to this stage.
I never used to want the ball and chain- that includes kids, but weird how the right person changes your mind without you realising it ay?
So here we are, engaged to be married... all we are waiting for is my traineeship so we can buy a house and walk down the aisle.  I cannot imagine anyone else I could want to be with.  Such clarity and absence of doubt is extremely rare, but of this much we are sure.  We want to grow old, grey and cranky together standing outside the post office in rush hour on saturday!  hooooo yes! lol.

Thanks to all of you who texted and sent their love, we really appreciate it.  Feel free to come over on the 29th and celebrate with us in our new home.

I also have two other notes to make;

1.  Well done to Rossi for winning the MotoGP yesterday, that was a fantastic race.  Unfortuantely I was unable to view the first four laps for trying to get my Spanish cousin off the phone!  Every bit that I saw was great racing, I was literally sitting on the edge of my seat trying not to shout the house down.  Sad to see Stoner have engine troubles but he did damn good to do as he did with a slipping clutch.  Braking with just one finger?! Funny.  Really great to see Pedrosa finally not let Rossi's tricks unnerve him, this gave the two guys a cat and mouse chase right up until the last second.  Gripping TV.

2.  My condolences to Colin MacRae's family and friends.  A great person has been lost.  May he rest in peace.

Government Petitions

OK.  I am by no means a politically motivated person.  There are however two petitions which I think are most definately worth your time and attention.  These petitions aren't long to read but have a big impact on many of us, so I thought I'd share it with you.
The first of which concerns us first time buyers. There is no way many people even earning £26,000 a year can buy a place of their own here down south.  I dont know what the situation for anywhere other than London and the South East is, so I apologise if you are any different.
House prices in the outer fringes on the south east kent/london border for a one bedroom flat/apartment will cost you a minimum of £170,000.  The ones that are slighly cheaper are on council blocks.  To buy a terraced house you are looking at around £230,000.  Now oddly enough not one person I know in their 20's can afford a mortgage on their own.  One person has scrapped enough to part own about a 65% share in a house.  So not even a whole house for a one bed terraced house, but a place to spread your wings and call home.  I shall not even mention how much that cost him in body parts.  So you can gather that moving in a place of your own remains a dream in your 20's.  Unless you come from a wealthy family or have a bossom buddy or partner, officially you're screwed.  So hence the first petition.
May I just stress that none of the above is propaganda as I know at least 15 people who are in the same sitution across London and the South.
So, moving on to the second petition;
The government, loving their CCTV and gatso's are coming up with a new scheme to fit every vehicle with a tracking device.  Every mile you travel, the more tax you pay.  Never mind the absurd tax that is imposed on fuel, please note this ban on fuel tax has now been lifted.  Wherever you are in the country the government will know.  If you are visiting your mistress, the government will know you are not with your wife.  Apparently we are the most spied on country full stop.  I didn't want to believe that but apparently whenever you make your way to work in the morning London rat race you are caught on camera an average of 162 times. Fuck.  Yeah.  So with the amount of shit drivers on the road I somehow dont think that fitting a tracking device is going to help- do you?

New Birth- Well done Steff!

This a an entry dedicated to the new arrival: Miss Emilia Elizabeth Brown and her proud parents.
She was born yesterday at 7 pounds and 8 ounzes.  Wearing her very first jump suit which her Godmother bought her (cest moi).  The cutie has two Godmothers, both of whom wear odd socks- so not much hope for her from that quarter LOL.
Usually I think babies look old and ugly before their time but I waive that view for this little one as she is the result of my uni flatmate and her long term boyfriend Andy.  Well done guys, you must be proud as punch. I'd like to be one of the first people to welcome you to the world and wish you the very best future possible!
See you for the wedding, first steps/words, tantrums and first driving lesson- biker Godmother to the rescue LOL!- I'll buy her a baby helmet, not bonnet lol! Lets groove this chick up!  We'll raise her the right way- teach her engines, law, clothes designs- it is all good!!

One last lot of congratulations from me, all the very very best for the future. This babysitters crtieria: I dont mind nappies, baby food (yum?) or crying, just no baby sick ok?  Thanks.  Call me anytime lol

Brotherly Love

If you are having a bad day or need cheering up then I'd recommend moving on to the next blog.

I dont normally moan or rise to the bait when being slagged off behind my back.  But it has come to a point when it is your own flesh and blood that is the one that starts the rumours behind my back yet is nice as pie to my face.  My brother has been bad mouthing me to many of our mutual friends and anyone that will listen for many years now.  To the point that I dont plan to do anything with him as he drops me at the last second and gets someone else to tell me....
I have had enough this time as, as always it doesn't involve just me but others as well.  My mate Troy is used to being slagged off by his 'mate' my bro but this time it is someone else who has recently been kicked down by his last g/f.  To then have someone he barely knows shouting his mouth off about him and the same about me has to hurt.  It certainly does me.
The reasons why my bro does this? Ever since we were small he seems to think that I am the favoured kid, the one that everyone gets on with and is paranoid that he will get left behind.  I understand why he does what he does but he doesn't understand that he just makes it worse for himself.  People that get to know me and I call friends, know that I dont lie and I am a genuine person, for him to start being bitchy others then think how sad and insecure he is.  I wish I could help him but he sees me as the problem I cant be the one to help him.  So in the meantime I am portrayed as many bad things, him the attention seeker and both of us hurt. Ironic that what he does only makes things worse.

Once again I am sorry for you reading this, new year new start but somethings carry on year to year.  My family is the reason that I want to move many miles away, which is also sad as I will miss many of the friends I have made.
I truly hope everything is going better for you, I could never wish bad for anyone.

New Number

Just to let you know, for those who didn't get my round of texts, I have a new mobile, first time in 4 years, but it had to happen sometime.  If you wanted to call then you will get my ans msg that gives you my new number.  If you text me in the next week or so my reply may be slow as I am only carrying my new mob with me, but I will be checking my now old phone out every eve, or possibly two days.  The old number will be in use for 3, possibly 4 weeks max, but I'd grab the new number incase T Mobile end it early.
I have tried letting you all know by text but for those who I haven't been able to contact then pray forgive me and get in touch!
I am selling my old phone therefore, it is a Sony Ericsson D750i, I will be putting in on ebay in about a week or so, so if you wanted a phone that has no problems then pop me a line and we'll see if I can sort you out with a new phone!

New route

I'm thinking of maybe going into freelance journalism a little.  Do interviews, articles and maybe a few advice columns for 'Blooming lawyers'.  If you have a band, something you want to publicise or need some advice from an old hat - not too old mind! then let me know.  Thought maybe Simon's band, although I am weary as I haven't heard their stuff, plus I don't think I can pronounce the name...
So leave a note, mail, text, call, yell; I respond to most things and I will see what I can do for ya.
Alternatively if you know anyone with links in the business analyst/consultant world then please let me know as this is my ideal job!
Would be good to hear from you all,
Love Fiona

London Bombing

I was lucky enough to be in Ibiza when the bombs went off but many of my friends live in london but I have found out that all my friends are fine.  Phew.  That could easily have been me or my boyfriend, friend, brother, it is scary.  I came back the next day to find that there were hundreds of injured people, luckily enough no one I knew, but my friend Sange is working in hospital to help out those who are injured.  Trains were delayed, tubes cancelled and buses cancelled and delayed.  Not fun for those who work up town.
I can't understand what the terrorists get out of bombing complete innocents.  If they were making their point then surely wouldn't they bomb the palace or parliament? why innocent commuters?  I know there are no hard and fast answers, it just truly seems unfair.  I say a prayer to those who were injured or killed in the explosions.  There was no need for them.  I wish all their families the very best, and their friends.

I hope no one was affected by the blasts, if you were then drop a line, everyone wishes you the best.
